Writing about tiredness

Writing when tired is almost never a good idea. You can feel sleep creeping up your limbs, your mind is more or less a vacuum, and if you’re like me, you might have skipped a meal or two because you were trying to finish something.

But then, sometimes vacuum is one of the best spaces to write in, and out of nowhere, bone-tired after a 16-hour day, I’ve suddenly got an idea how to finish a short story. I wonder I did not see it coming all along, and now that it has come, I want to put it down on paper rightaway.

So, off I go to do some writing. On another note, I have started writing more now that I’ve stopped keeping count!

That’s good. You might want to make yourself a little idea box. Tuck away all those ideas that come to you when you have a creative explosion, and use them to limp through the times when you don’t. It’s what I do, and it has helped me limp through numerous difficult scenes.

I do that, but this one was for a current project, not a random idea I could write on in future, but something to latch on to immediately!

Thanks for your suggestion, and welcome to my blog. I hope you visit often.

It’s pretty amazing what removing pressure to perform can do. ;)

I once fell asleep on my keyboard trying to write when I was tired. The piece was indecipherable. :)

Darc, you crack me up! Well, I went back and read what I wrote last night, and though it is not a masterpiece, it makes sense, and I’ll probably be able to salvage something from it later.
