A-Z blogging: Cookie crumbles

Writing Prompt: Cookie

Provided by: Talli Roland, a fab writer and fellow A to Z challenge participant. Go visit her! ( Folks, Please add a word-prompt in the comments—I need ones between the letters I and P—- or I’ll start picking words from your comments themselves! )

Genre: Fiction/Flash (Keep reading to find the word-prompt–hope you like this, Talli!)

Tomorrow, I’m going to be happy.

No, this is not some random new-age, positive-thinking shit. I hate that. Back where I’m from, they let you be who you are. No new-agey talk about organic, , hot yoga, sheep intestines, weird African berries and vegan crap.

I’m going to be happy because I’ve made sure of it.

Tomorrow, when Shelly Parsons strolls into the office, her skinny little ass will get glued to her chair: literally. No slimming walks around the office for Miss SmartyPants tomorrow, unless she chooses to lose her skirt, of course. No bracing talk at my cubicle encouraging me to eat healthy, not McDonalds cookies, with her nose pinched in, her plucked eyebrows curled. How does she expect me to do that on my pay, I ask you?

Tomorrow, I’ll be happy, and my boss, Miss Parsons, will be sad: though my fired ass would still be six times the size of hers.

Because my dears, sometimes that is just how the cookie crumbles. You take care now.

  1. I want a cookie now. >.< Make your D post on donuts now! lol Kidding… or am I? Wait, no better, word. Donkey. Unless you've already done D then damn. I tried though so that counts! Great post by the way.

I’ve already done D, yes. Sorry! :( But you did try, and get brownie points for that. I now need prompts G onwards:) Thanks for your comment!

  2. Love your take on cookie, nice work.

    Words: fortune, formula, disaster, energy.

Thankyou, and thankyou again for the prompts. I love the ones on F, and might use them. Will tell you if I do!

  3. Funny. Can’t say I blame the narrator though.

Contrary to my usual practice of subscribing to comments, to save time during challenge I will not be doing so during April. If you want to respond to my comment , please email me directly from your email notification for the comment.
    Thanks.

Lee, thanks so much for the comment. I’m afraid you’ll wear yourself out, trying to comment on all our posts!

  4. Clever Damyanti and funny. word prompts: giraffe, giant, gorgeous, generous
    hairy, horny, harry, honour

I’m aiming to keep them small. I’m aiming also to do all 26 days of fiction, God help me. Some won’t be as good as the others, but that’s life, I guess. I lurve your prompts…going to use them. Now I’m looking for prompts for the letter I onwards!

  5. Letter I and onwards huh? Let’s see? K has to be kiss for sure! I want to see what you come up with that one! Ummm…M for Moon? Wait, I’m going out of order here… I for Impending Doom! J for…Joker…K for Kis..L for Lollipops and Gumdrops, and M for Moon, P for Pretend, Q for Quirky! There, I’ll stop for now and see what other people have to say! I’ll come back and see what you come up with for the rest of the challenge. Good idea to write bits of fiction for each entry! I bet it really gets the muse muscle strong by the end of the month.

Anastasia, thanks :) Those will keep me going! Impending Doom…wow. I love all your prompts. Do come back and check out how the pieces based on your prompts turned out.

  6. Helloo… i hope i have the right person that wanted to use that picture/idea. By all means that is fine. I will let you know that that picture came from a website that shares pictures to use for art purposes. I figure that using it as a prompt for creative fiction IS art so i was happy to use it. Just letting you know where the copyright stands.

the website is WetCanvas and it is in their RIL (reference image library) which is free for members (no subscription fees) to use for art purposes as long as you are not on-selling the pictures.

check it out if you are concerned.

I hope this is the right blog for the comment, i couldn’t reply to the email you sent as it is a ‘noreplyatblogger” email :-)

    good luck and have fun!

    Hi Sarah :)

So kind of you to come by and comment…thanks for explaining the copyright situation to me, though I was not really concerned about that…I’m using only a very low-res version.

I wanted just to give you credit for the idea, because though I have used picture prompts earlier (in my regular blog posts), you’re the only A-Z blogger I’ve come across who’s using pictures to encourage art.

The whole idea of using prompts from other bloggers is to connect and make friends…I’ve linked your blog to the post I’ve scheduled, and it will be up on April 6th, I think. :)

Sorry if I’ve created misunderstanding, and I’ll let you know once the post is up!

  7. no problems,

I am all happy to help promote creativity and get people just to write. That is my theme of the month “JUST WRITE”. Thanks for showing the curtesy to ask and make sure, not many people actually would bother, so many thanks for that. MUCH appreciate, however not necessary. But nice all the same *grin*

Don’t worry about missunderstanding, i was never concerned.

I will keep in touch and certainly stop by to see what you do with the idea!

good luck and above all – Happy writing!

    Sarah

  8. bwahhahaha!
I like the way your evil little mind works and the cookie crumbles.
Think about Impatient, Impenitent and Impoverished; or perhaps Persnickety or Perilous. I can’t tell you mine for Q because Q is hard and I need it. X either. Just sayin.
    Aloha
    T

Hey, it is not my evil mind :)…it is my character’s–she took me over for a while. Love you for the prompts! I got Q already, and I hope I make it to X. Thanks so much for the comment.

  9. That’s a great little piece of writing. I read all three of your A-Z flash fiction pieces at one go, and I love how each of them takes on a different tone altogether.. :) :)
As for your word prompts, you should have plenty by now, but I’ll still throw in whatever comes to my mind. :) How about Guardian, Groceries, Hopscotch, Hourglass, Hookah, Infinity, Ice cream, Igloo, Jasmine, Jelly, Jobless, Junk, Knickers, Ketchup, Laundry, Lemonade and Library? :D :D (I don’t have a lot to do, and a lot of empty space in my head.. :P Tell me if you need any more.. :D )
Thanks for dropping by my blog.. Your blog has been great fun to read.. :)

Writers love compliments, and this writer also loves prompts! Thank you for both, and I don’t mind if you keep the prompts coming! :)

  10. Hmm, you had me at the pic of the cookie… I want. Now. ;-)

Talei, no fair. You’re supposed to read the post, then comment. And who knows, you might even get a cookie ;)

  11. Love me some cookies! But not enough to get fired because of them though. Okay, let’s see if I can help with some words.
    Ignoramus, ignoble
    Jabber, juicy, juxtapose, jungle
    Kleptomaniac, kryptonite
    Luscious, loopy, lark, loon
    Mendacious, motherly, meek
    Niggardly, necromancy, nerd
    Opportune, obligatory, orgasmic
    Perspicacity, pernicious, preponderance, pupil, pustule

  12. Great story! And love the idea of doing each day in the challenge as a new fiction prompt.

    Just a few ideas:
    inky, igloo, incredulous
    jungle, judicious, Japan
    perfection, popular

  13. Thanks for your comment on my blog! Mmmm…it was the cookie that really caught my eye. Yum. Hang on while I head for the kitchen. Back now, and I love your story. Did you say you wanted a word prompt? N for nuts!
    Sue

  14. Your writing is very….good with sounds, like it would sound great being read aloud or acted. I’m sure there are proper English terms for that, but I was an art major.

    L -Lie
    M- Measles
    N- Neanderthal
    O- Octopus
    P- Platonic

  15. Oooh, how I giggled! I was just watching Drop Dead Diva and this reminded me of that too. I HATE how skinny little things think they’re sooo much better than a curvier woman. And I’m not saying this because I have something against skinny people (I just have issues with their attitude, sometimes.)

    Nice pieces of flash fiction!

  16. Scrumptious looking cookie! I have to go eat one now. Very funny post! Letters – I = Ingredient; J = Jelly; K = Keebler; L = Liquor; M = Moist; N = Nugget; O = Olive … in keeping with the food picture theme. :)
